Ayomide & Mcandy
We Are Getting Married
OUR LOVE STORY
Groom And Bride

Mcandy Duru
It all started in 2009 at the School of Nursing, UCH Ibadan. I was shy, but I had a friend, Peace Banjoko, who introduced me to Ayomide. Now, let me tell you, she was *radiating* warmth and good vibes from the start. She asked me to join her and her friends, and I was like, “Nah, I’m good,” because, you know, *shy guy problems*. But deep down, I was thinking, “Why did I say no?!”
Fast forward a couple of days, I got sick with an ear infection (thanks to some cold), and Peace took me to the emergency section. While I was lying there like a helpless patient, she asked Ayomide to keep me company. You could say that was the moment I realized Ayomide wasn’t just a kind heart—she was also really great company. We started chatting, laughing, and before I knew it, I was falling for her.
Fast forward through years of long-distance relationship (thanks to Lagos, U.S., UK… basically, we’re pros at keeping things spicy even from afar), I finally asked her to marry me in 2021. We had our court marriage in January 2022, and since then, it’s been all about growing stronger together—especially when she joined me in the U.S. in 2023. Let’s just say, distance makes the heart grow fonder, but seeing her every day now is the best part of this crazy love story!

Ayomide Olatunde
Our journey started on a Sunday afternoon when a mutual friend, Peace, asked me to look after Mark while he was recovering from an illness. I had just returned from church and agreed to check on him. We spent the afternoon chatting, and later, my childhood friend Bolaji joined us. That simple act of care unknowingly set the foundation for our friendship.
At first, I wasn’t interested in anything beyond friendship, but Mark’s consistency and patience stood out. Despite the challenges of being from different ethnic backgrounds and my initial hesitation, he remained intentional about our connection. Our bond grew stronger through study sessions, long conversations, and time spent together. Even after nursing school, when distance should have pulled us apart, he remained constant—whether I was working across different states or when he moved to the U.S.
When Mark relocated, I thought it would be the natural end of our story, but instead, it was just the beginning. He made sure to keep in touch daily, and through every phase—his studies, my career, and long-distance challenges—he remained committed. After years of building a solid foundation, he proposed, and I said yes in 2021!
We officially got married in early 2022, and despite the ups and downs, it has been a beautiful journey filled with love, laughter, and unwavering commitment. Looking back, what started as an act of kindness turned into a love story that I wouldn’t trade for anything.
